Luke Cage
Carl Lucas, also known as Luke Cage, is a supporting protagonist in the Kingdom Hearts Unlimited Saga, first appearing in "An Empire of Dreams" as one of two party members for the Alias Investigations campaign, then reappearing for future episodes as a member of the Defenders and the Anti-Registration Avengers.
Story[]
Carl was a former policeman from Savannah, Georgia, who was wrongfully convicted into Seagate Prison, where he met and fell in love with therapist Reva Connors. During his time in prison, he was subjected to an experiment by the scientist Dr. Noah Burstein to save his life, leaving him physically enhanced with superhuman strength and seemingly unbreakable skin. After he escaped from his prison, he changed his name and moved to New York City, marrying Connors, opening a bar named Luke's and living in there until Connors' death seemingly due to a random bus crash.
Months later, Cage came across private investigator Jessica Jones during the course of an investigation and started a relationship with her, but he discovered that Jones was involved in the murder of his wife due to the controlling influence of the spiteful mutate Zebediah Kilgrave. Following his encounter with Jones and the Purple Man, he moved from Hell's Kitchen into Harlem in order to build a new life, working for the old barber Pop. However his own life became more complicated due to the actions of the crime boss Cottonmouth, whose henchman Mr. Slick killed Pop, starting a war between the pair which only ended when Cottonmouth was found dead at the hands of his corrupt politician cousin, Black Mariah.
Blamed for Cottonmouth's murder, Cage was forced to go on the run, hunted by his ally Misty Knight and his former friend and unknowing brother Willis Stryker, also known as the murderous Diamondback, who also had ambitions of controlling Harlem through the weapons trade business. Eventually Cage defeated Stryker but he was still arrested by the police to continue his original sentence. Being released early by Foggy Nelson, Luke returned to Harlem and Claire Temple, only to be approached by Clint Barton of the Secret Avengers to join the team in order to oppose the ratification of the Sokovia Accords and clear another good man's name of his crimes. Luke managed to avoid capture in the wake of the Civil War's battle in Germany, but his name was slowly being downgraded and in danger of being arrested again permanently. Things changed slightly for the better when he got involved into a conflict with the Hand after investigating the murder of Sean Miller and being introduced to Iron Fist. Together, with his old compatriots in the Secret Avengers, Jessica Jones and Daredevil, Cage helped destroy the Hand's leadership to protect New York City.
